What is a Registered Nurse?

The practice of nursing is the promotion of health and the assessment of, the provision of care for, and the treatment of health conditions by supportive, preventive, therapeutic, palliative and rehabilitative means in order to attain or maintain optimal function.

Blue Sky Family Health Team Registered Nurses are registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario and are accountable for their own professional practice.

What do Blue Sky Family Health Team Registered Nurses do?

The Registered Nurses at the Blue Sky Family Health Team are involved in a variety of programs .   There are two Registered Nurses at the Blue Sky Family Health Team, each with specific qualifications.

Registered Nurse:

  • Immunizations
  • Well baby/child visits
  • Lifestyle counselling
  • Ear syringing
  • Suture/staple removal

Diabetes Nurse Educator:

  • Insulin adjustment
  • Diabetes self management education
  • Foot assessment

Who can use this service?

Registered Nurse support in the Blue Sky Family Health Team is for all Blue Sky patients.

How do patients access the Registered Nurse? 

Referrals are generated through the Blue Sky Family Health Team physicians or nurse practitioners.
