Smoking Cessation Program

We offer individualized intensive smoking cessation support by our TEACH certified smoking cessation counsellors – Registered Respiratory Therapist and Registered Nurse.  They are here to counsel, educate and enable Blue Sky patients to Learn How to Quit.  Patients may also be seen by the other Blue Sky Health Professionals at times for support with certain lifestyle changes throughout the smoking cessation process, these could include the Registered Dietician and the Registered Social Workers.

Counselling and educational topics include:  behaviour change, barriers to quitting, quit plans, and pharmacotherapy options.

We follow the Ottawa Heart Model for Primary Care and we are part of the Stop with FHT program which enables us to provide nicotine replacement products at no cost.
A referral is needed from a Blue Sky FHT physician or nurse practitioner to schedule an appointment with a smoking cessation counsellor.
