COPD Education Program

The Registered Respiratory Therapist/Certified COPD Educator will work with your physician or nurse practitioner to diagnose COPD via spirometry.
COPD patients are provided with ongoing monitoring, education, and self-management tools. The ongoing education includes disease self management, nutrition awareness and monitoring, education with specific exercises to reduce the work of breathing, education plan to cope with chest infections and help reduce frequency of hospitalizations, vaccinations, smoking cessation counselling, inhaler education and techniques, day to day quality of life management, end of life care issues, and education with community resources such as the Pulmonary Rehab Program in North Bay.
A referral is needed from a Blue Sky FHT physician or nurse practitioner to schedule an appointment with the COPD educator.
